It’s been almost four years since we first got to know the Alberta Forest Products Association. A client with so many great stories to tell, ready for creative ways of telling them.

Almost every member of our team has touched the AFPA file at some point. That client relationship has been the springboard for some of the work we’re most proud of, and it means something to pretty much everyone at Berlin. So maybe it’s fitting – and honestly still a little hard to believe – that we’ve just had our first CommArts win for our Love Alberta Forests virtual forest tour.

For those who don’t read a lot of advertising trade journals (because not everyone finds that as exciting as advertisers do), CommArts is the biggest industry journal in the world for visual communications. To people who do sit around reading advertising trade journals, CommArts’ awards are a big deal – out of 425 entries this year from agencies around the world, an international jury chose 38 winners. It’s humbling to see who else is on that list.

The tour will be featured with the other winners in the March-April 2022 issue of CommArts, but for now we can share a closer look with this short video here – a bit of the story around the project.

I see every day how hard our team works, and how committed they are to their craft. The way they push to make the work the best it can be. I’d like to thank all of them, and the great folks we brought in to help bring this project to life –  Overhaul Media, Jon Manning and Nathan Fillion – for all the grit, creativity and ingenuity that went into this project. It’s inspiring to work with people who are so good at what they do, and affirming to see their hard work recognized.

So here’s to our first international award. We can’t say “first of many” yet, but we can work on that.
